Technical Terminology Related To Explosive Films

Back pressure: means the static pressure of the exit of the bursting piece device when blasting or releasing. If the pressure is lower than the atmosphere, it can be called vacuum pressure.

Back-pressure support: Refers to the device in the blasting chip to prevent the reverse pressure caused by the failure of the blasting piece. If the system pressure is lower than the atmosphere, it is usually called a vacuum support.

Batch: A number of blasting pieces of the same specification are concentrated in a batch and manufactured using the same batch of materials, called a lot.


Bursting piece (explosion-proof film): Pressure relief device which can not be closed after blasting under setting pressure, releasing pressure when exceeding pressure or vacuum, protecting the safety of single device or whole system.

Bursting piece assemblies (explosion-proof components): All parts installed on the gripper in order to perform the functions required by the design

Bursting device (explosion-proof device): A pressure relief device which is controlled by pressure difference and has the function of blasting and discharging. It is not only a separate bursting piece, but also a suitable blasting piece gripper and other components.

Bursting piece gripper (explosion-proof gripper): A component used in a bursting device to fix a blasting piece and ensure its performance.

Bursting pressure: When the system pressure difference rises to a certain value, the blasting piece will open instantaneously. Open instantaneous system pressure difference is the blasting pressure.

Coating: A layer of metal or non-metallic material (not lining) covering the parts of a bursting piece.

Blasting temperature: The system temperature when the blasting pressure is reached.

Common type blasting (positive arch type): When the system is pressurized to exceed the tensile strength (or tension) that the disc material can withstand, the bursting piece will open. The common type of blasting plate is flat or arched, the direction of the arch is consistent with the direction of the blasting pressure, that is, the blasting pressure acting on the concave of the positive-arch-type blasting piece.

Discharge capacity: the ability to discharge fluid after opening of a blasting piece.

Demolition PLATE: The blasting plate is a pressure relief device, when the system internal excessive pressurization and imminent explosion, by releasing pressure to prevent the explosion. When the system pressure reaches the "open pressure" p value, the blasting plate will instantly open the relief pressure.

A metal strip or sheet used for the manufacture of metal bursting pieces.

Free flow (discharge) area: the equivalent minimum flow cross-sectional area after the influence of back pressure support and explosive residual parts on the circulation area is excluded.

IP protection level: is to prevent the external objects (such as dust, moisture, etc.) into the electrical equipment or the system inside the seal protection level.

Lining: An extra sheet or film (uncoated) attached to a metal bursting piece or holder.

Manufacturing Scope: The manufacturing scope is a pressure range determined by the manufacturer and the user, according to the demand consultation. The average blasting pressure of the same batch of blasting films must be within this pressure range.

Maximum operating pressure: is to instruct the blasting piece normal work but will not cause the bursting piece excessive exhaustion loss system maximum pressure. According to the different form of blasting chip, the maximum operating pressure is 50% to 100% of the rated blasting pressure. Often referred to as operational ratios.

Operating pressure (working pressure): The system pressure when the blasting piece is working normally.

Operating temperature (operating temperature): The system temperature when the blasting piece is working normally.

Blasting tolerance: Under the same blasting temperature, the actual blasting pressure will have the difference between maximum and minimum value. Blasting tolerance is the allowable deviation between the actual blasting pressure and the calibrated blasting pressure. Typically expressed as a percentage (or psig). After determining the form, model and blasting pressure of the blasting piece, the actual blasting pressure must be within the tolerance range.

Release pressure: The maximum system pressure in the discharge state. (different from blasting pressure)

Discharge temperature: The highest system temperature in the discharge state. (different from blasting temperature)

Anti-arch type blasting piece: the opposite of the direction of the arch bending and the pressure action, i.e. the pressure acting on the convex of the blasting piece.

Composite blasting film: a 2-storey blasting piece, in which one layer through the structure of holes or cracks to reduce the pressure of the blasting piece to control the effect of blasting pressure. The composite blasting piece can be flat or arched.

Design blasting pressure: In the design of the performance requirements of blasting tablets, at the same blasting temperature, by the customer requirements or manufacturers to provide pressure. Can be expressed as a minimum or maximum value.
