According to reports, the Paris_based engineering and construction company Technip FMC announced on March 27 that it has acquired Solvay's Epicerol bio_based epichlorohydrin (ECH) process technology. This technology converts glycerol into high_purity epichlorohydrin and is used in many industries such as coatings, composites, and adhesives.
Epicerol technology has many advantages over traditional propylene feedstocks for the production of epichlorohydrin (ECH) process technology, including optimized integration of vinyl production raw materials and recycling facilities, thereby reducing energy, water and chlorine consumption, and reducing chlorinated by_products . The technology was developed by Solvay and has been implemented and operated in factories in Europe and Asia. The production capacity has been built to 100,000 tons/year. The Technip FMC operations center in Lyon, France, is the company's polyolefin, chemicals, petrochemicals and bio-based product technology center, and will issue Epicerol technology licenses.
