The French energy company Total said on Tuesday (April 11) that Saudi Aramco and Total had signed a memorandum of understanding to build a "giant" petrochemical complex at the SATORP refinery in Jubail, eastern Saudi Arabia.
The unit will be integrated downstream of the SATORP refinery, which is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco (62.5%) and Total (37.5%) with a crude oil processing capacity of 440,000 barrels per day.
The petrochemical complex includes a steam-cracking unit (50% ethane and refinery tail gas) with mixed feeds, and an annual output of 1.5 million tons of ethylene and related petrochemical products.
Total said that the total capital expenditure of the project will be around 5 billion U.S. dollars.
The two companies are planning to start front-end engineering and design (FEED) in the third quarter.
Total said: "The cracker will supply raw materials for other petrochemical and specialty chemical plants. These will be a total of 4 billion U.S. dollars invested by third parties."
“The total investment of the project will reach US$9 billion and create 8,000 local direct and indirect jobs. The project will produce more than 2.7 million tons/year of high-value chemicals.”
The bursting discs produced by our company have been widely used in the petrochemical industry, and have maintained a good cooperation with many foreign customers, providing long-term rupture disc products.
